On April 3rd, 2015 CodeRED took Houston by storm. Hundreds of people from all over the world gathered for 24 hours of hacking, snacking, learning, having fun, and building something awesome. We're excited to announce that we'll be doing it all again, bigger, better, and with true Texas pride and spirit: CodeRED Fall 2015.
So, prepare for a weekend filled with learning new technologies, pushing your limits, making new friends, solving problems, building out ideas, and redefining excellence. We'll provide you with everything you need. Just make sure you come hungry and eager to build something awesome.
We're going to have food, and lots of it. Maybe we should call this a snackathon. Get snacked.
Network with top companies, startups, and fellow hackers from all over the world!
Like swag? We got some; and so do many of our sponsors. Shirts, stickers, and more!
We'll be holding many raffles throughout the event. Every hacker has a chance to win!
We're getting a truckload of hardware; Literally. Oculus Rifts, Leap Motions, and more awesome stuff to hack on.
Learn, code, build, and grow. We want you to leave CodeRED eager to go further, learn more, and build the future.
Hackathons have taken the world by storm, and they're not about breaking or stealing. They're about solving problems, building ideas, and pushing the limits of the mind and body to create something amazing.
Fantastic! We're excited that you would like to volunteer and/or mentor. Contact us at hackathon@cougarcs.com.
Any undergraduate and graduate student from any college, university, or higher education institution. Graduates who graduated within 1 year of the event may also attend.
High schoolers may only attend if and only if they are 18 and/or can provide proof of enrollment in an institution of higher education.
Absolutely nothing for the event. We'll be providing snacks and meals, and sponsors will be handing out swag and prizes.
A computer (preferably laptop), student ID, chargers, a sleeping bag if needed, and anything you need to maintain hygene.
Drive, carpool, Uber/Lyft, etc. We'll be providing busses for high demand locations.
No more than five people, and please don't be a one man team. The real fun and productivity happens when you're a team. Note: We will only be providing prizes for up to four people per team.
We currently do not plan on providing travel reimbursements. We will, however, be providing busses from high demand locations.
If we find that an area has a true high demand and funds are sufficient, we will provide a bus.
Don't worry! That's pretty common, you'll have time before the hacking begins to find a team. We'll also have Facebook group for attendees.
Absolutely not! Any major may attend, and we frequently find many business, biology, and engineering majors at hackathons. All levels of skill and skillsets are welcome.
CodeRED abides by the MLH code of conduct. For more info see here
